Educating young minds through the ARTs.

The theme for the 3/4 class is “A Year in the Museum.” This year we are going to create our own museum exhibits filled with artifacts, artwork and interactive displays. This theme allows for the integration of all content areas fostering a student-centered learning environment.

Our opening exhibit is our Portrait Gallery. The students worked on drawing their portraits and learning how to use our classroom materials respectfully. The students had to use proper proportions, symmetry, highlighting and shadowing when drawing their portraits. You can look at each portrait and immediately recognize whose is whose. They are amazing to see and open for public viewing.

SAIL believes that the single most powerful tool to motivate students, enhance learning, and develop high-order thinking skills, especially for at-risk students (K-6), is by infusing the arts into the core curriculum.
