Volunteer at SAIL

Volunteers play an important role at SAIL and make a difference in the students' lives.

SAIL is very proud of the almost 200 Reading and Math Buddies who work every week with SAIL students. There are also other opportunities to volunteer or get college credit through an internship by working in the classrooms and/or in the afterschool program

Reading Buddies
Some volunteer opportunities include:

Reading & Math Buddies

Make a difference in a child’s life during your lunchtime. Spend half an hour a week as a Reading or Math Buddy working one-on-one helping a child with their reading or math skills.

For more information about Reading or Math Buddies, call JoAnne Stanback at (202) 261-0216 or e-mail: jstanback@wvsarts.org or apply today by filling out an on-line application here.

Read here about how Reading Buddies from one organization make a difference at SAIL.

Classroom Assistant
Assist a lead teacher in the classroom or provide support to a SAIL administrator. This is a great opportunity for college students looking to work in education.

Aftercare
Help with homework, art projects, sports and more in SAIL's afterschool program between 4:00pm and 6:00pm.
