Educating young minds through the ARTs.

SAIL works to address the needs of students with learning differences by providing creative learning environments. We have developed a specialized curriculum using the arts to help children learn in ways that match their learning styles, paying special attention to individual learning styles and specific need. Our focus is on developing the whole child, intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially.

The SAIL class schedule is 8:45 am—3:45 pm Monday through Friday and before- and after-care is available. Students are eligible for enrollment if they are:

1) A resident of the District of Columbia, and
2) Within grade ranges offered.

SAIL Lower is currently accepting applications for the 2008-2009 school year. Please contact the principal for more details at SAIL-lower@wvsarts.org.

Welcome to the School for Arts in Learning (SAIL)!

Our experienced, knowledgeable and highly qualified staff is excited about providing a quality education for our students and is focused on infusing the arts into our social and academic curriculum. At SAIL, we believe in providing a safe and nurturing learning environment for students and staff. Our staff is well trained in behavior management systems that empower the individual as well as unleash their creativity. To achieve this, we ensure that every classroom is a safe place for children to take risks and that ample resources are devoted to this goal. Further, we strive to keep our student to teacher ratio as low as possible.

We also believe that no school can succeed without the partnership of the families of our learners. Therefore, we work to promote a positive atmosphere for our children’s caregivers. This has resulted in a 95% student attendance rate!

SAIL has many exciting events and opportunities coming up throughout the school year. We urge you to stay connected to our website to receive more information about what we are up to!

SAIL believes that the single most powerful tool to motivate students, enhance learning, and develop high-order thinking skills, especially for at-risk students (K-6), is by infusing the arts into the core curriculum.
